Founded in 2023, Maffia Academy is a basketball brand devoted to youth who are looking to learn and grow as people and athletes. It's a brand for youth of all ages to learn more about basketball, and show their passion for the game on a regular basis.

Our mission is to develop great people through the game of basketball. "Fail Forward" is a common term we use and we truly believe that the only way to become successful is to fail first, so you can learn how to approach failure in a positive manner.

At Maffia Academy, we believe in a holistic approach to basketball training that focuses on both the physical and mental aspects of development. Our training programs are designed to help athletes develop a better skill set and become more confident on the court. As well as, to develop the mental toughness to approach mistakes with a positive perspective.

"There are many people who can set up a drill to accomplish a task or outcome. What sets Diego apart is his ability to break down the movement and correctly teach what is required. Further to that, he is able to identify flaws and successfully make corrections that help the individual player improve. Since he was young Diego has had a keen understanding of both the technical and tactical aspects of basketball. A player can spend hours running skills and drills but at no time correcting errors and therefore not improving at the rate required. I have been fortunate in having Diego work with my players in ball screens scenarios along with attacking close outs and I can clearly see the improvement in their reads and understanding. "

"I first met Diego at the Legal Beagle Tournament at Terry Fox 7 years ago while he was in grade 10. I have been fortunate enough to coach against, coach and coach with Diego.

Diego is an incredible basketball player who continues to keep improving, develop more leadership capabilities. This is evident as he continues to lift the UVIC Men's Basketball program to new heights. Diego is also a fantastic coach as I have personally witnessed him develop positive connections with young players at basketball camps I have ran. Since those camps, the same players continue to look up to Diego and hold his words of wisdom with the highest value.

I would consider myself very fortunate to have Diego coach either my players or my kids. I fully endorse Diego as a player, coach and person."
